In January, adidas announced their plans for this year’s adidas Consortium Sneaker Exchange Program, we know that a collab with Japanese streetwear mainstays United Arrows & Sons was part of the deal. But as we learned today, there’s something else!
Turns out, the 3 Stripes’ Japanese connection goes further than shoes: Dropping on March 25, the two brands will release a full-fledged adidas Originals x United Arrows & Sons Footwear and Apparel Collection replete with custom track suits and a special NMD_CS1.
The progressive collection is anchored by Japanese calligraphy in Katakana lettering, designed by typeface designer MIKITYPE. The designer rendered the words “United Arrows & Sons” and “adidas Originals” in Katakana, which appears on contrasted background colors on the collection’s track suit tops – also check out the tan color block on the red version – as well as the pants’ Three Stripes and across the shoes.
Speaking of shoes, the featured model in the United Arrows & Sons collab is the NMD_CS1 model with its signature BOOST tooling and contoured fit. The upper of the collabo’s NMD City Sock features the MIKITYPE lettering on the medial, heel tabs, as well as the frontal EVA plug.
The mixture of black Primeknit with bold white Katakana lettering creates that of-the-moment “future athletic tech” look – seen in recent drops like the White Mountaineering x adidas Originals EQTs – with a cool Japanese twist.
The adidas Originals x United Arrows & Sons Footwear and Apparel Collection will drop on March 25 at adidas Originals flagship stores, online, and select retailers. Also keep an eye out for more colorways of the NMD_CS1 about to drop on April 27 in our retailer list.
